Will Fulham bounce back from their final day disappointment?2
Derby vs Fulham - Friday 19:45
Fulham were denied automatic promotion after they were finally beaten as they went down 3-1 at Birmingham, but this was just their first defeat in 24 outings (W18-D5-L1) and they remain the huge favourites to win the play-offs. However, with the Cottagers only managing a single clean sheet across their last four, Derby will fancy themselves to get on the scoresheet, and indeed both teams have found the net in seven of their last eight at Pride Park, while each of the last seven saw at least three strikes.
Teams that finished lower in the regular season and start off at home in the first leg of a Championship play-off hold a poor W5-D9-L10 record since 2005/06, and with that in mind fulham appear to be the value here. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side won 2-1 away to Derby back in March and a repeat of that scoreline would hold no surprise, especially as seven of Fulham’s last 11 away wins came despite conceding, while Derby have netted in four of their last five defeats.
Aleksandar Mitrovic has been sensational since joining Fulham on loan from Newcastle in January, only failing to find the net four times in his last 14 appearances, netting 12 times across these games in total. This includes the opener against Derby themselves and in fact he’s bagged the first of the game in six of the 10 games in which he scored, while the Rams have conceded first in five of their last seven on home turf.
